(PORTLAND, ME) March 23, 2011—Walch Education, a leading publisher of educational materials, is pleased to announce that it has hired Lylia King, of Cleburne, Texas, to work with its district partners in Texas and to expand regional awareness of its Texas initiatives and resources.
“As an experienced curriculum leader, I have been impressed by Walch’s commitment to our state and am excited to be joining them,” said Lylia King. “Their materials, including the iPad and iPod Touch applications they have developed for Texas’ upcoming Algebra EOCs and the Science materials they have designed around Proclamation 2012, are purpose-built, deeply aligned, and promise to be easier implemented than alternatives.”
An experienced Texas administrator and teacher, Dr. King was formerly the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Cleburne Independent School District in Cleburne, Texas. Prior to that, she was the Principal of Smith Middle School and of Cleburne Intermediate School. Earlier in her career, she taught Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Physical Education. Dr. King received her Bachelor of Science at Tarleton State University, her Master’s of Education at Texas Woman’s University, and her Doctorate of Education at Baylor University.
“We have been focused on Texas for several years now. Our commitment to working with local educators to develop Texas-specific resources, both printed and digital, has been warmly received,” said Al Noyes, Walch President. “We are delighted to have Lylia on our team. Her knowledge of and experience in secondary education is impressive, and her insights on what’s needed in Texas will be of great value as we continue to invest there.”
