North Carolina Overview

Over the past few years we have worked with North Carolina educators across the state, focusing on middle and high school mathematics, science and STEM initiatives. Working with our partner districts, we create curricula that are targeted, user-friendly, flexible, and cost-effective.

Our customers and partners in North Carolina find that Walch materials are superior to their “one size fits all” counterparts. By including only relevant standards and lessons, following the desired pedagogies, conforming to a school district’s schedules and scaffolding our resources as appropriate, we ensure that our instructional programs are easy to implement and effective.

Recently, we are beginning to focus on Core Learning Goals-based materials for secondary classrooms and helping North Carolina educators as they transition. We also have a wide variety of research-based materials aligned to national standards that can be readily incorporated into your educational programs.

Additionally, many of our resources help students in middle school prepare for the transition to high school math and the more rigorous math requirements inherent in the Common Core, new state tests and 21st Century learning requirements. This article, by one of our partners, addresses some of the challenges in the transition and underscores the importance of placement as early as 5th or 6th grade: Predicting Student Eighth Grade Mathematics Class Placement.
