Walch has been working closely with North Carolina educators for almost ten years to develop a variety of NC math resources from problem-based tasks to complete mathematics courses.

**North Carolina Math 1, 2, and 3**

With feedback from North Carolina math leaders, Walch has built fully aligned, supportive problem-based Math 1, 2, and 3 curricula for North Carolina teachers and their students.

The North Carolina Foundations of Algebra course was developed and piloted with North Carolina educators. It is designed to prepare high school students for success in Algebra I and future math courses. Lessons and activities engage students with important concepts in a purposeful three-step sequence, from concrete experiences, to reasoning/sense-making discussions and activities, to communication and representation of the mathematics. The program includes various hands-on activities that generate data and create models that allow students to explore, develop, and reinforce fundamental math concepts.

We worked with CMS to assemble collections of Problem Based Tasks (PBT) addressing the standards that define the North Carolina Math I, Math II, and Math III courses. Each Task is set in a meaningful context to engage student interest and reinforce the relevance of mathematics. Each is tightly aligned to one or more specific standards from the North Carolina CCSS Mathematics courses. Student workbooks are available to save teacher time and copying costs. Several North Carolina districts are currently using the PBT with all of their high school math students.
