Mathematics and Problem Solving, DBA Walch Education and Printing, is revolutionizing the world of educational publishing with our innovative “Curriculum as a Service” platform. We have just raised the company’s first round of outside capital in its 90-year history and are beginning to roll out this exciting solution. Our Director of Finance is retiring, and we are seeking to add a talented, energetic, and team-oriented professional to our executive team.

What You'll Do
We are looking for an experienced, team-oriented professional with a passion for education to lead our financial function. Key responsibilities include:
  • development, analysis, and interpretation of monthly financial results
  • preparation of annual budget and financial forecasts
  • ensuring effective financial controls for the organization
This professional will also manage the HR function for our 15-person company. Importantly, s/he will be a key contributor to the overall strategy, vision, and culture of the company.
 
What You'll Need
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 10+ years’ experience in financial management
  • excellent computer and communication skills
  • familiarity with the economics of “Software as a Service” businesses and publishing and with various forms of selling and distribution.
  • BA/BS in economics, accounting, finance, or related major and ideally a CPA.

Director of Engineering

What You'll Do
We are hiring an engineering leader to lead the launch and build-out of our "Curiculum as a Service" platform. S/he will collaborate with existing Walch Customers, build and lead a development, support and engineering team, manage outside resources and be an active participant in company management and strategy.

We need someone who is both an engineer and an architect. Someone who is a hands-on doer and a manager and leader. Someone who is passionate about education, puts customers first and is a great team player. Someone who is an energetic self-starter and fast learner who wants to work in a fast-paced and family-oriented culture.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Spearheading the design and engineering of our “Curriculum as a Service” platform
  • Managing a significant offshore development effort
  • Building a product development organization including architecture and engineering, UIX, content management database, sales engineering and quality assurance
  • Managing pilots and deployments
  • Making a variety of buy/build recommendations with respect to such things as a testing engine, accessibility supports, and analytical engines
 
What You'll Need
  • BS or higher in Computer Science required
  • This is a full stack opportunity, with demonstrable front end/UIX experience key
  • Understanding of and experience with engineering and building Cloud-based systems and services architectures is a must.
  • Experience with educational technology and familiarity with such things as SISs, LTI, SCORM, Open Roster and other related technologies is a plus
  • 15+ years of similar/related experience
