Economically priced, as low as $15.80 per student! The
South Carolina Academic Support Program Social Studies Grade 6 ("ASP") is perfect for summer school or targeted intervention during the school year. As a complete, turnkey solution for improving educational performance, the
ASP targets striving students and diverse classrooms.
Developed in partnership with Richland County School District One, the ASP recognizes that many students aren't reached by traditional "skill and drill" or strict test-prep approaches. For these students, the ASP includes components that review, instruct as needed, provide practice, and assess students' skills.
The sturdy 3-ring binder includes:
- More than 30 lessons correlated to the South Carolina Social Studies Academic Standards, with reproducible activity sheets
- Application activities to provide critical-thinking experiences
- A collection of hands-on enrichment activities
- A reproducible glossary to help students build vocabulary
- A supportive teacher's guide that:
- describes the purpose of the materials and options for using the package
- provides pacing guide options
- references specific standards
- recommends an assortment of graphic organizers for instructional use
- includes reproducible maps
The reproducible student activities in the ASP draw students into the era of expanding exchange and encounter among the world's cultures, states, and peoples, so they develop a rich understanding of the many elements of this varied interchange and development. Many activities in the
ASP draw on original source materials. This device personalizes distant events for students and helps them enter into the lives and cultures of these centuries.
- Parts 1 and 2 focus on content-area strategies for vocabulary and reading within Social Studies.
- Parts 3 though 8 focus on The Growth and Spread of World Religions; The Rise of Islamic Civilization; Diffusion: Trade, Technology and People; New Patterns of Society; Africa South of the Sahara; and Sea Routes Link the Globe.
- Part 9 contains a collection of hands-on activities. These suggested activities provide enrichment experiences related to the culture of West Africa.
The
ASP is completely reproducible. Use it to review, instruct as needed, provide practice, and assess your students' skills.
