The South Carolina Academic Support Program Middle School Science contains instruction for twenty-five 3-hour days, perfect for summer school or targeted intervention during the school year. As a complete, turnkey solution for improving educational performance, the ASP targets striving students and diverse classrooms.

Developed in partnership with Richland County School District One, the ASP recognizes that many students aren't reached by traditional skill and drill or strict test-prep approaches. These students need support in topics included in the South Carolina Science Academic Standards and the National Science Education Standards.

The ASP is divided into three sections for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade:

• Grade 6 covers the physical sciences, including energy and work
• Grade 7 covers the physical sciences, including the structure and property of matter, and ecology
• Grade 8 covers Earth science and space science

The ASP is completely reproducible. Use it to review, instruct as needed, provide practice, and assess your students' skills. It contains:

• Many hours of lessons with reproducible activity sheets
• Daily warm-ups or openers to begin a class or to make a transition
• Embedded pre- and post-assessments to inform instruction and document achievement
• Application activities to provide hands-on experience
• A collection of inquiry-based lab activities
