The Academic Support Program for Mathematics Grade 8 (or ASP) has up to 100 hours of NCTM-standards-based instruction. The ASP is designed for after-school, tutoring, summer school, and other extended learning programs. It includes components that review, instruct, provide practice, and assess students’ skills for the four strands of mathematics:

1. Number and Operations
2. Algebra
3. Geometry and Measurement; and
4. Data Analysis and Probability.

The 8th grade ASP is perfect for diverse classrooms, and for students who require additional support. Problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, and connections are embedded throughout, in a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and hands-on group work.

The ASP comes packaged in a sturdy, easy-to-use 3-ring binder that includes:

• Up to 100 hours of lessons with reproducible activity sheets that address NCTM standards
• A section on test-taking strategies and a collection of practice test items
• A collection of station-based activities for small group work
• An accompanying CD-ROM that includes all of the material on a searchable PDF
• A problem-based teacher's guide that:
  • describes the purpose of the materials and options for using the package
  • provides pacing guide options
  • recommends an assortment of graphic organizers for instructional strategies
  • includes a collection of openers to—begin a class or to make a transition—and references relevant state standards
